Deb Durban
Deborah Durban was raised and trained as an artist in England. Using a wide variety of mixed mediums Deborah's work has explored her world and the world around her, using a narrative theme, there is always more to the work than is immediately apparent.
Always enthralled by the primal landscape and nature of the Colorado Plateau region, the ever-changing sky has recently become her primary muse when a long convalescence confined her to watching and observing the natural world through her picture window, often painting with a brush on an iPad.
Artists 'make marks' that are unique to each artist, no matter their medium or tool, and the iPad is really just another tool. It has the ability to draw light with light, the marks can be different or similar to marks made by more traditional mediums. The skies above are seemingly ephemeral - light within light - perfect for interpretation through this technology. Using the original paintings and a variety of techniques, the artwork get printed and re-worked into other works, taking the narrative further.
She has lived in and been inspired by Zion Canyon, near Zion National Park, Utah, for over a decade.
